Job Description:
  • The Product Manager for Benefits/Payroll is responsible for the overall product strategy, planning and execution for Benefits and Payroll.
  • This includes overseeing the development, implementation, and ongoing management of these components.
  • The Manager will be a subject matter expert and understand the system (their component(s)) as well as general business processes in this area.
  • This role requires a strategic, data-driven leader who can manage end-to-end product lifecycle processes, ensuring that services meet the evolving needs of our employees and stakeholder groups.
  • The Product Manager will use their advanced knowledge of product development practices to identify roadmap initiatives and operational improvements, quantify the benefits/impacts, prioritize initiatives, and develop robust business requirements.
  • The product manager will be responsible for socializing initiatives, securing approvals and overall communication / engagement with the stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Product Strategy:
  • Own and develop the product strategy for Benefits and Payroll, aligning with organizational goals, compliance requirements, and business/user needs, and represent product point of view and directional roadmap internally and externally.
  • Identify business opportunities;define, develop and prioritize roadmap initiatives for the product.
  • Partner with stakeholders to prioritize projects based on business needs- juggling the triangle of scope, budget, and time, weighing priorities according to the needs and objectives of stakeholders.
  • Present findings to senior leadership and recommend adjustments to the product roadmap based on data insights and feedback

Subject matter expert:
  • Understands the overall business processes of each stakeholder team / department and ability to anticipate the client's needs and concerns.
  • Understands the basic system and functionality, can interpret enhancement requests and translate into user / business requirements.

Product Development:
  • Work with a cross functional team and oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of product features and enhancements, ensuring that solutions are efficient, scalable, and user-friendly.
  • Working closely with the business and IT teams, develop and document user personas, user scenarios, use cases, and detailed product requirements.
  • Enough technical knowledge to speak intelligently with IT to ask the right questions to assess impact of technology considerations on product strategy.

Communication & Collaboration:
  • Develop and maintain rapport with stakeholders and effectively collaborate to understand business needs to design, evaluate and implement solutions to meet those needs.
  • Communicates with a cross functional team of other professionals (project managers, architects, Business team members, IT specialists, and consultants) on strategy, technology and methodology related to the design and development of a solution.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders tailoring the message / content based on the audience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • 7 years' experience as a Product Manager or equivalent experience owning, prioritizing and driving a product strategy to meet market and business needs for payroll, benefits or HR solutions - Required
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft HCM Benefits and Payroll application - Required
  • Working knowledge of statutes/regulations and union agreements with respect to Payroll, Benefits, Workforce Administration, etc. Preferred
  • Experience with Shared Services. Preferred
  • Experience with waterfall, agile and scrum methodologies - Required
  • Strong project management skills. Required
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project planning and implementation skills. Required

Education:

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training-required
