Job Title: Pega Application Development Manager

Job Location: Mechanicsville Virginia 23116 Remote

Onsite Requirements:
  • Modern application development experience in Pega
  • 3 years' experience leading teams (will be leading a team of 10-15 including offshore supervisor and developers and tech leads, will consider someone who has not managed a team that large before).

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the application development and support team.
  • Partners with business and manages IS personnel to deliver multiple priority projects, within budget and in accordance with the enterprise project portfolio and the company's strategic plan. This includes personally managing projects, supervising staff who report to another project manager or managing technical project leads
  • Manages team to apply technical and industry expertise in the diagnosis of business problems, evaluation of solution alternatives and delivery of reusable systems solutions.
  • Accountable for ensuring team adherence to the software development lifecycle and software change control including all associated methods and deliverables and adherence to best practices and policies around data and application maintenance and support.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement of all development and support processes including and not limited to standard SDLC methods, peer code review, defect tracking and resolution
  • End to end accountability for solution development and support
  • Proactively manages and directs team to manage process across the organization to deliver quality and timely solutions and fixes.
  • Responsible for hiring, coaching and mentoring of subordinate staff.
  • Ensures project deadlines and performance standards are met.
  • Manages technical team to ensure appropriate architecture is used for all projects, considering performance, maintainability, security and portability.
  • Demonstrates creativity and initiative in problem solving and instills these qualities on the technical team.
  • Proficient in work planning, resource management, estimating and documentation of work including status reporting, deliverables management and issues management.
  • Work closely with technical and functional personnel and vendors to implement and support solutions
  • Drive effective outcomes through the proactive management of vendors, software contracts, projects, people, budgets, business partners/requests and IS support and maintenance processes.
  • Lead and integrate teams of new technology and legacy systems personnel with extensive experience in matrix project management.
  • Mentor existing staff and lead through change.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Education and/or Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years in a people leader role capacity
  • 10 years of Full-Stack software development experience including solution design
  • 6-8 years of experience in a technical role working with Pega Systems
  • Hands on experience with large Pega programs developing complex to highly complex BPM solutions
  • Proven track record implementing Pega application development best practices and tooling
  • Experience upgrading, supporting and maintaining Pega applications
  • Good understanding of PRPC Architecture and all PRPC design and implementation features
  • Exposure to Pega Robotics and Mobile framework
  • Experience with Pega Cloud v7.X.X
  • Provide thought-leadership to key stakeholders across business and technical project dimensions solving complex business requirements
  • Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with business and technology partners
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Passionate about continuous improvement
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field
  • Experience working in agile teams following full development, testing and deployment in short sprints
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent experience is required

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations:
  • LSA Certification preferred
